Several maintenance misunderstandings of yachts
Time : 2022-03-13

Myth 1: Many small and medium-sized yachts with inboard and outboard motors on the pier often raise the stern when they are parked in the pier. It is believed that this can be as close to the water surface as possible to reduce the attachment of sea oysters.

Consequences: Long-term parking after the stern lifts up will cause the propped hydraulic rod to be exposed in the seawater, and the exposed hydraulic rod does not have any anti-fouling protection, and the oysters will adhere to it after a long time. The stern machine needs to be lowered the next time it is used. At this time, the attached sea oysters and other organisms are very firm. Under the strong hydraulic action, these sea oysters will be forced to be removed, but this will damage the sealing ring of the hydraulic arm and cause hydraulic pressure. Oil leaks and sea water enters the hydraulic arm. The hydraulic oil entering the sea water will corrode the electronic components of the hydraulic system, thereby affecting and damaging the hydraulic system.

Positive solution: The stern engine must be lowered to the lowest position after the ship of the inboard and outboard engine is parked. The hydraulic strut is completely received in the hydraulic cylinder to avoid attaching sea creatures. If the equipment is not operated for a long time, it is necessary to operate the equipment regularly to lift and move the stern to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

Myth 2: Yachts are parked for a long time

Wrong demonstration: Some yachts are common on the pier. Because the owner has been out for many years, or has lost interest in yachts, they rarely use them. For some reason, they don't want to be managed by professionals, so the yachts have been parked on the berth.

Consequences: Prolonged immobilization of yachts in seawater can cause several problems. Most antifouling paints on yachts have a self-throwing function, which requires high-speed friction to remove sea creatures attached to it after starting. If there is no movement of sea creatures for too long, it will stay, the longer it is, the more it will go deep into the gel coat, which is very firm. Not only greatly reduces ship speed, increases engine load and fuel consumption, but also greatly damages the hull. If the part of the zinc block also adheres to pollutants, it will also affect the efficacy of the zinc block and cause the metal equipment to lose protection. At the same time, the onboard engine air conditioner and other equipment are not started for a long time, and the water inlet is not circulating, which will also cause the water inlet to be blocked. If electrical equipment is not used for a long time, it will cause excessive moisture to corrode the wires and circuit boards, which may be more easily damaged.

Positive answer: If the yacht does not move for a long time, it is recommended to park it on land for storage. Or ask a professional company or the captain to manage it and start it regularly and reach a certain speed to reduce the attachment of sea creatures. The equipment and electrical appliances on board should be started regularly to ensure that the equipment is in good condition.
